Theo Personas

A persona is a real-time video agent with four parts:

• A face — a photorealistic likeness from the Theo Faces library.
• A personality — a system prompt + greeting that define who it is and how it opens.
• Capabilities — a curated set of things it can do live (search, create projects, and more).
• A way to reach it — a shareable OpenCharts link or a website embed.

The Voice step is where you pick how your persona sounds. Browse a broad library of natural voices organized by language (English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and many more), filter by gender or search, and press play to audition any voice before you choose it.

• Pick the voice that fits the persona, or keep the face's default voice.
• For the most natural result, match the voice to the language you set in Personality — a Spanish voice for a Spanish persona, and so on.
• Voice changes take effect the next time you publish the persona.

Once a persona is published, click Preview live (in the studio or on its overview) to open a fully OpenCharts-branded video call — the persona speaks and listens in real time, with your own camera as a small self-view.

• The call opens right inside OpenCharts — no redirect, no third-party chrome.
• Personas know they live in OpenCharts: ask for a deck, a flowchart, or an image and they build it right here with their capabilities — they won't send you off to external tools.
• You control your microphone and camera, and can end the call any time.
• If your camera is unavailable, the call gracefully continues audio-only.

A published persona can join a Google Meetas a real participant — on camera, hearing the room, and taking its turn — with the same capabilities it has on a normal call. Set it up from the persona's overview, under Join a meeting.

• Give it a meeting identity once — pick a unique username and the persona gets its own invitable email address (name@…). Prefix it (e.g. your brand) so it stays unique.
• Drop it into a live call — paste a Google Meet link and the persona joins the call directly, in seconds.
• Or invite it like a teammate— add its meeting email as a guest on any Google Calendar event that has a Meet link. It accepts the invite and joins on schedule (or right away if the meeting's already running), including recurring events.
• Everything it does in the meeting runs as you (the owner) and shows up in the persona's Recent activity, exactly like a normal call.

• When the persona builds something — a flowchart, a deck, an image — the card includes an Open link so you can jump straight to it.
• Ask a question and a cited answer card appears on screen — the full written answer with numbered sources you can tap, images, and suggested follow-up questions. Tap a follow-up chip and the persona answers it, just like asking out loud.
• You can also type instead of speaking — tap the message button in the call controls for a quiet-room composer. And while the persona is talking, a subtle Tap to interrupt pill lets you cut in politely.
• Generated images render right in the panel as thumbnails.
• Ask about a place and a live 3D map calls up over the left side of the call. Give a starting point (or allow location access) and the driving route and ETA draw themselves — no clicks needed. Expandtakes the map full screen (the persona's voice mutes while you look around, and unmutes when you collapse it).
• Say “navigate me there” (or tap Start) and the map becomes a real turn-by-turn navigator: a follow view that tracks your location, a frosted maneuver card (“In 400 ft, turn left…”) with the next turn previewed, live remaining ETA and arrival time, and automatic re-routing if you go off course. Turn on Voice for spoken directions (the persona steps back while it guides you).
• Pick how you're getting there with the Drive / Walk / Cycle / Transit selector — the route, distance, and ETA update to match. Drive, walk, and cycle navigate right on the call; transit opens your maps app for schedules and stops. Start and destination show as clear, labeled pins, with a blue dot for where you are.
• Plan multi-stop trips: ask for charging stations, food stops, or errands and the persona finds real places along your actual route — not detours — each landing as a numbered pin on the mapin driving order. It quotes the honest cost (“direct is about 3 h; with the stops it's about 3 h 12 min — only ~12 minutes added”), and if a requested stop would drag you far off course it says so and leaves it out instead of silently rerouting your trip.
• The map remembers your trip: keep talking — “now add a restaurant near the second stop”, “remove the Punta Gorda one” — and pins are added or removed without losing the rest. Your route, stops, and travel mode carry through the whole conversation.
• Ask for “a restaurant near my last charging station” and the persona turns personal concierge: it searches real rated places around that exact stop and recommends one with reasons— star rating, review count, price, distance, and how it fits what it knows about you (favorite cuisines, allergies, budget, who's along). Options land as lettered pins with the top pick as a starred pin, and the panel shows a ratings list with a “Top pick” badge and the why. Tap a pin for the details card.
• Every option comes with one-tap actions: Call the place to book a table, open its Website, or tap Check menu / Pin to trip to ask the persona without saying a word.
• Weather is instant: ask about conditions anywhere — a city, the destination, a pinned stop, or right where you are — and the persona answers in seconds with current conditions and today's range.
• Say yes to the follow-up and it checks the menu before you go: it reads the restaurant's real menu online and reports dishes worth ordering plus dishes to avoid for your allergies or diet (“you're allergic to cilantro — skip the green falafel”), with sources. Then one word pins the chosen spot into the trip with the real added time.
• Tell it your tastes once — “I love Mediterranean”, “I'm allergic to cilantro” — and it saves them to Theo Memory, so every future recommendation gets smarter. (Your tastes stay private: shared personas never use them for visitors.)
• Tap any pin to see what it is — a small card shows the place name, its role in the trip (start, stop, destination), and an Open in Maps link for hours, reviews, and photos.
• The whole overlay is chromeless — the dark map fades into the persona's video with long, feathered edges instead of a boxy panel.
• The panel opens automatically whenever the persona starts working on something new; toggle it any time with the activity button in the call's top bar (it shows a badge while closed).
• On the public share page, visitors see the activity feed too — but links into your workspace stay private to you.
• Long builds (like Theo Code apps) keep running in the background — the persona confirms it started, and the finished result lands in the activity panel with its Open link.
• It rememberswhat you tell it: give a destination once and it won't ask again, and when you talk to your own persona it recalls facts from your Theo Memory. Say “save home as 123 Main St” and later just “take me home” — no re-typing the address. (Your saved places and personal facts stay private to you; a shared persona never reveals them to visitors.)
• After a call ends, the persona's overview page shows a Recent activity list of what it did across recent conversations — and when a private call did real work (searches, places, builds), a call recap Note lands in your workspace automatically with the picks, answers, and links.

Persona calls are designed mobile-first — the share page works like an app:

• Before connecting, a get-ready sheet lets you join with the camera or mic off — audio-only calls are a first-class way to talk.
• The screen stays awake for the whole call (including turn-by-turn navigation), and subtle haptics mark results landing, upcoming turns, and arrival on supported phones.
• The activity feed is a draggable bottom sheet — peek at it, pull it half-way, or expand it full screen; swipe down to dismiss.
• When the map goes full screen, the persona stays present as a small floating video bubble you can drag anywhere — tap it to come back to the call.
• If your connection blips, the call shows a Reconnecting… pill and recovers on its own; a Rejoin button covers the rare full drop.
• Share a persona with the native share sheet, and add its page to your home screen— it opens like an app, tinted in the persona's brand color.

Turn on the Health & care capabilities and your persona becomes an evidence-grounded health assistant — not a chatbot guessing from memory, and never a doctor:

• Condition lookups pull the vetted MedlinePlus (NIH) overview — in Spanish too, natively — with the ICD-10 code clinicians use, rendered as a cited card on the call.
• Medication infocomes straight from the FDA-approved label: what it's for, dosing (always framed as “the label lists… confirm with your clinician or pharmacist”), warnings, and side effects.
• Interaction checks cross-match 2–5 medications against their FDA labels — offered proactively when a second medication comes up. Absence of a finding is never presented as proof of safety.
• Medical literature (PubMed) and clinical trials (ClinicalTrials.gov) ground deeper questions with real citations — trials are always framed as options to discuss with your doctor.
• On private calls, a second-opinion panel convenes independent AI models on a case and synthesizes where they agree and disagree (owner-only — visitors to a public persona can't trigger it).
• It's proactive: emergencies are triaged first (chest pain, stroke signs, and other red flags get an immediate “call emergency services” directive), follow-up questions cover onset and timeline, and durable health facts you share — medications, allergies, diagnoses — are remembered so future calls start smarter. Care-heavy private calls end with a recap Note that includes questions for your doctor.

Health answers are informational — never a diagnosis or a prescription. Evidence tools read public sources (NIH, FDA, PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov), so a clinic can safely deploy a public care persona; the second-opinion panel and your health profile stay owner-only.

Pick the persona's language in the Personality step — English, Spanish (Español), or Auto-detect — and the WHOLE experience follows:

• Speech recognition and the persona's voice run natively in the chosen language — a Spanish persona hears and speaks Spanish for the entire call.
• Spanish personas speak with a native Latin-American voice — not an English voice reading Spanish — so pronunciation sounds like a native speaker from the first word. Re-publish an existing persona once to pick the voice up.
• On-screen content follows too: answer cards and their follow-up questions are written in the persona's language, menu highlights come back translated, and condition overviews use MedlinePlus's native Spanish summaries.
• The call chrome — buttons, the activity feed, the get-ready sheet, the share page — renders in the persona's language for every visitor.
• Auto-detect follows whatever language the caller speaks, switching mid-call if they switch.

Tip: write your greeting in the persona's language — it's spoken verbatim at the start of every call. Quoted source text (FDA labels, PubMed abstracts) stays in its original language for honest sourcing; the persona translates the substance when speaking.

In the Capabilitiesstep you choose what the persona can do during a conversation — nearly everything Theo can do in chat, grouped by category (Knowledge, Health & care, Create, Edit, Workspace, Boards, Communication, Teams & community, Memory) with per-category All / None toggles. Highlights:

Capabilities marked owner-only are automatically blocked when strangers talk to a public or team persona — they only work when you talk to your own persona. Already-published personas pick up newly enabled capabilities the next time you publish.
