Meme Canvas
Meme Canvas is the meme-ads mode of the Creator Canvas. A step-by-step Meme Studio walks you from a one-line brief to a finished set: describe the campaign, pick a design style, choose trending or curated formats (or let Theo recommend them), and generate a set of on-brand meme ads that render automatically. Then remix, restyle, and score the winners right on the canvas — and download them one by one or all at once.
How it works
1. Describe the campaign
The Meme Studio opens the moment you land on an empty canvas. Write a one-line brief ("meme ads for my cold-brew coffee brand") and optionally attach a product shot, your logo, or a source ad right there in step one.
2. Pick a design style
Choose the look of the whole set — Classic Macro, Clean Brand, Deep Fried, Minimal Text, Retro Print, Screenshot Native, Comic Sketch, Luxe Editorial, or Cinematic Still. One tap decides the rendering style and how captions are treated.
3. Choose formats (or let Theo pick)
Browse what's trending on the internet right now alongside the curated library — Drake, Distracted Boyfriend, Two Buttons, POV, greentext, and more — and pick up to three formats to build around. Or leave it on "Theo recommends" and Theo matches formats to your message.
4. Generate the set
Pick 3 or 6 memes and an aspect ratio (1:1, 4:5, or 9:16) and hit Generate. Theo writes the captions, lays the set out on the canvas, and renders every meme automatically — no per-node babysitting.
A real meme knowledge base
The intelligence is what makes Meme Canvas better than a one-shot "make it a meme" prompt. Every format in the library is annotated with:
- What each caption slot means— e.g. Drake's "rejected" vs "preferred" panels — so captions go in the right place with the right intent.
- Why the format is funny and what a good caption does, so the joke mechanic is respected.
- When it fits a brand — comparison, temptation, hot take, escalation, clapback, and more.
Theo reasons over this to pick the format that matches your message, then writes captions that actually land.
What's in the box
Design styles
Nine looks — from classic impact macros to deep-fried chaos to luxe editorial — applied consistently across the whole set, so your memes share one visual system.
Trending-meme research
Beyond the curated library, Theo pulls the meme formats that are hot right now so your ads feel current — not like last year's templates.
Remix & Restyle
Remix a winner (funnier, new captions, different format, or crazier) to spawn fresh takes beside it — or Restyle the exact same meme into another design style.
Theo Meme Score
Score any meme on format recognizability, caption legibility, humor, brand-safety, and small-size (thumbnail) legibility — with concrete fixes you can apply and regenerate.
Sets as versions
Every run lands as its own set column (Set v1, v2, …) so earlier explorations stay on the canvas — or choose to replace everything and start clean.
Download one or all
Grab a single meme, or Download All to get every finished meme on the canvas bundled into one .zip.
Brand logos, per meme
Drop your logo on the whole set from the Studio, or give one meme its own mark. You choose where it sits and how it's worked in — as a badge, a lockup, part of the scene, or a subtle watermark.
Work on many at once
Select all (or shift-click a few) and a toolbar appears: pick the winners, download them together, push them to a board, or clear the rest away.
Straight onto a board
Send a meme (or a whole selection) to a Theo Board as scheduled cards — you pick the board, the list, the title, and the caption.

Put your logo on it
A meme ad is still an ad, so every meme can carry your brand mark. Add one in the Studio to brand the whole set, or open the Logo section on a single meme (just under Edit captions) to give that one its own. Your logo can come from an upload, a saved brand kit, or a mark you've used before.
You then make two separate choices, because "put the logo somewhere" is not a design decision:
- Where it goes — a full-width bottom bar, a small corner mark, either top corner, or a centered hero lockup. Leave it on Theo decides and Theo places it wherever it reads best without covering the punchline.
- How it's worked in — a clean badge sitting on top, a lockup pairing the mark with your name as a sign-off, in the scene (printed on a product, sign, screen, or shirt that already belongs in the shot), or a subtle watermark.
Work on many at once
Once a canvas has a few sets on it, you don't want to act one meme at a time. Hit Select all in the toolbar (or shift-click a few memes, or press ⌘A) and a toolbar appears above the canvas with everything that makes sense for a batch:
- Pick— star the winners so they're easy to find later, or unpick them all in one go.
- Download — grab just the selected memes instead of everything on the canvas.
- Add to board — send the whole selection to a Theo Board.
- Delete— clear the explorations that didn't work and keep the canvas readable.
Press Esc to clear the selection. Select-all never fires while you're editing a caption, so ⌘A still selects text where you'd expect.
Boards & Agents
Send it to a board
Every finished meme has an Add to boardaction, and the selection toolbar can send several at once. You choose the board and the list, write the card title and caption, and pick whether you want one card per meme or a single card carrying the whole batch. The meme becomes the card's cover image, so the board reads as artwork instead of a list of titles.
Afterwards the meme keeps a small On boardsrow naming the board and list it went to, so you can tell at a glance which memes are already scheduled — and click straight through to the card. It's a record of what you sent, not a live copy of the board, so the card itself is always the last word.

Let an agent build the set
Add the Create Meme Ads step to a Theo Agent and give it a goal. It plans the formats, writes the captions, and renders the whole set on its own — same meme knowledge base, same design styles, same logo handling as the canvas.
FAQ
How is this different from just asking Theo to “make it a meme”?
The Meme Canvas is backed by a real meme knowledge base. Every format carries the meaning of each caption slot, why the format is funny, and when it fits a brand — so Theo picks the right format for your message and writes captions that land, instead of pasting text on a random image. It also researches what's trending, scores the result, and lets you remix and restyle each meme, which a one-shot prompt can't do.
What is a “Source Ad”?
It's an existing ad, poster, or product image you upload in the Studio's first step. Theo reframes it into meme ads — keeping your product and message while recasting it into a recognizable meme format.
How many memes are in a set?
You choose: 3 for a quick read or 6 for a wider spread. Each meme is a genuinely different comedic angle — not rewrites of one joke — so pick the strongest and Remix it to go deeper.
Can I change the style after generating?
Yes. Hit Restyle on any result to re-render the same meme in a different design style, or open a new set from the toolbar with a different style for the whole run.
How do captions stay readable in a feed?
Every design style carries its own caption treatment (classic macros use heavy white text with a crisp outline), and the Theo Meme Score explicitly grades thumbnail readability, so the punchline reads in under a second on a phone.
Is my brand safe?
Yes — the meme-design standard keeps humor tasteful and inclusive: no punching down, nothing offensive or political, and cultural references stay generic. Brand-safety is one of the five scored dimensions.
Where does my logo come from?
Three places: upload a file, pick a logo you already saved in a brand kit, or reuse one you've used before. Add it in the Studio to brand the whole set, or open the Logo section on a single meme to give just that one a different mark.
Does the logo survive a Restyle?
A logo you attached to that specific meme does — it's an explicit choice, so a Restyle keeps it. A logo inherited from the set's brief is re-composed by the restyle instead, which is what lets you test a cleaner look.
Can I send memes to a board without leaving the canvas?
Yes. Every finished meme has an Add to board action, and the selection toolbar can send several at once. You choose the board and the list, then either one card per meme or a single card carrying the whole batch — the meme becomes the card's cover image.
Can an agent build a meme set for me?
Yes — add the Create Meme Ads step to a Theo Agent. Give it a goal (plus an optional style, logo, and how many memes), and it plans and renders the whole set on its own. Chain Add Board Card after it and the memes land on a board automatically, on a schedule if you want.
